New EC H2020 Project LEA
LSS has been awarded the Horizon 2020 project LEA (Large European Antenna) in a consortium of 15 European companies from 6 nations led by HPS. The project aims towards European non-dependence in large deployable reflectors. The consortium will develop a flight-ready 6m deployable reflector antenna, ready for launch from 2021.

LSS Deploys Large Antenna
This news posting is written by Critical Comms. A test deployment has been undertaken for a 5 m diameter antenna, which is designed for orbital operations. Previously, the European industry was unable to field reflectors that were larger than 4 m in diameter. However, large reflectors are increasingly required for telecommunications,

5 m Deployable Mesh Reflector
LSS completed manufacturing and assembly of a 5 m deployable mesh reflector demonstrator (ESA project SCALABLE)

Card-thick space antenna
This news posting is written by esa.int A whole new kind of large space antenna has been tested in realistic space conditions. This 5 m-diameter reflector seen being lowered into ESA’s Large Space Simulator appears translucent because it is a few tenths of a mm thick – thinner than a piece
New ESA Project AMPER
LSS started a new ESA project “Advanced techniques for mesh reflector with improved radiation pattern performance” (AMPER) as a prime contractor, subcontracting to TICRA, Denmark and Space Engineering, Italy.

Ultra-Rapid Deployable Antenna – Completed
LSS has successfully finished work on shape accuracy improvement of the lightweight backpack deployable antenna in the scope of the ESA project “Ultra-Rapid Deployable Antenna”. Consequently, RF measurements performed by HPS GmbH returned very good results. Image ©HPS GmbH.
Live Deployment of 5m X-band LEA Large Deployable Reflector
Major Milestone Achievement Thanks to the dedicated work of partners (HPS, vH&S, INEGI, FHP, RUAG and TICRA amongst other) and its internal team, Large Space Structures GmbH celebrates a yet major milestone achievement. On 22nd February, 2021, the LEA Protoflight Model (PFM) reflector was deployed at Large Space Structures GmbH

New ESA Project MilliWave
LSS has been awarded the project MillIWave (Millimeter-Wave Deployable Antenna for Small Satellites). The objective of the project is to develop and demonstrate deployable reflector antennas for CubeSat applications for operation at W-band (50-300 GHz) in the range of 0.5-1 m in diameter. The development of a folding antenna reflector

LSS signs contract to deliver Large Deployable Reflector for the CIMR mission
On December 14, 2020, Large Space Structures GmbH signed a contract to deliver a set of Large Deployable Reflectors (LDRs) for the Copernicus Imaging Microwave Radiometer CIMR mission, the newest addition to the European Space Agency Copernicus program. This follows closely the signature of the mission contract by Thales Alenia Space with the European
